the Long Runner | by Jay

Perhaps overlooked amidst all the hubbub, on Saturday Robert Hughes had the longest run by any Irish back all year. He sliced off-tackle and rumbled thirty-seven yards right at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Not only was it the longest run all year by an Irish back, but it was also the longest rush by the Irish going back to Hughes' 44-yarder against Stanford in 2007.

The call was a counter play, Jab 37 Sub:

Watch the initial misdirection, and then watch SeƱor Plow pull through the hole and seal off two guys to spring him. Solid blocks by Young and Rudolph. Also, Shaq Evans at the top of the screen doing just enough to take the corner out of the play.
