Washington Photo and Video Galleries | by Pat

Lots of fun stuff from earlier in the week. Und.com has the AP photo gallery while the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has a solid gallery of Getty Images. The South Bend Tribune/Irish Sports Report gallery is up and includes a great picture of Kyle McCarthy making the big hit in OT on 4th and 19 that preserved the ND win. Matt Cashore's work for ND's Gameday gallery made it to Sports Illustrated this week with this pic of Tate flipping over Husky defenders while the gallery also includes the unveiling of the Rockne statue outside of the Stadium he built.

For the shot of the week, I'm going with this picture from Jonathan Daniel of Getty Images of one of the three goalline stands that the Irish defense put together. There is still a lot of work to be done defensively, but it was great to see them rise to the occasion multiple times and play tough when it mattered the most.

Here's another fun picture, and, as Paul over on Classic Ground writes, it's a bit different than what we saw two years ago.

Screengrabs from this game were actually pretty common this week, as fans, both Irish and Husky, were using them to cricitize the consistently inconsistent ref and instant replay decisions that have really been far too common this young season. There was Polk's TD/non-TD review, the 2pt conversion with Hughes, and UW's 40 yard catch that set up their game tying field goal (also with video). My answer for most things is rarely "maybe the NCAA should step in", but I'm not so sure that conference affliated refs and replay crews are such a good idea. Putting aside more conspiracy theory-ish angles, there just doesn't seem to be consistent standards and points of emphasis across conference affliations. And especially for teams like ND that face crews from different conferences more than most other programs, the inconsistency has to be annoying at the very least.

Hulu has the full game available for streaming while you can break off smaller chunks at nbcsports with the 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, 4th quarter, and overtime. Depending on your mood, you can also watch highlights of Golden Tate's 275 yard day or lowlights of ND missing tackle after tackle. Kudos to NBC for providing the various cutups of the game.

Finally, und.com has put up a highlight package of the first 5 games of the season as we head into the bye weekend. Enjoy.
